Abstract

Investigation of the different designs of wind turbines is important for evaluating the performance of wind energy conversion systems. Small models of different rotor types were tested in which the solidity ratio of the rotor, the geometric pitch angle and the blade twist angle were changed. The models were tested in front of an open – end wind tunnel. The torque, speed and thrust of the rotor system were measured for each combination of parameters.A theoretical model was constructed to evaluate the performance of the tested models.
