Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the influence of adding Multi- Walled Carbon Nanotube (MWCNTs) and graphenenano sheet (GNS) on the rheological behavior, tribological properties and thermal conductivity. The ultimate objective is developing nano lubricants which would increase the life of the mating parts, reducing the chances of tribological failure of machine elements, and hence improving the productivity. Various concentrations of MWCNTs with 10 nm average diameter, 5 µm length and (GNS) of 1.3 nm average thickness and 2 µm length, have been added to the calcium  grease in  0.5, 1, 2, 3 and 4% concentrations to study the effect of such additives on the properties of nanolubricants. Brookfield programmable Rheometer DV-III ULTRA was used and the microstructure of MWCNTs and nanofluids were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).
