Abstract
Measurements of both local size and velocity distribution of the size and velocity of water droplets within spray issued for blast air atomizer using laser diagnostic technique (visibility/intensity). The measurements are performed at axial and radial location downstream of atomizer exit. The mass to air flow ratio are 1.45, 2.9, 3.5 and 10.8. At, the atomizer exit, the relative velocity of the air and water jet is 140 m/s. Also, a swirller with swrilling angel 3oo was place in air exit. The investigations show The Sauter Mean Diameter of the droplets decrease with increase of axial distance(x) up to x/d=200 for non swirlling spray. The swirlling effect is found to decrease the SMD and increase the uniformity of radial droplet size distributions. |
